Sherman Dolan was a very hard worker all throughout the Depression. When he was being interviewed he was 75 years of age. He came all the way from Germany to Nebraska and still adapted well. He was a blacksmith for 40 years and then a painter for 18 years. This is incredible and shows his determination and his brilliant work ethic. He showed strength and responsibility. He worked hard to make a life for himself with a healthy income even during one of the darkest times in America. He was interviewed to show how hard he worked and how he worked through the Depression and into retirement. Some may call it luck, but in my opinion he was a hard worker who earned all that he was granted. The interview is between George Dodge and Rosalie Smith. Dodge is the person being interviewed while Smith is the interviewer. George is the Yankee Odd Job Man. He is this as well as a mason and a carpenter. This also shows that he is a hard worker and did what he had to do do live and survive. His wife died before the interview so he really only stays with his dog. He is clearly a male by the age of 70. George Dodge seems to be a small town type of guy. For almost his entire life he stayed in his small town with a population of 500 people. The interview is took place in Peru, Massachusetts. The interview took place on January 24,1939. Roe Remington was a white female who was alive during the Great Depression. She was part of the Hardy family who had numerous members. She is part of the thriving touring business and owned a bed and breakfast with a neon sign. She had a tough time with her finances and that is the reason she transformed her home into a bed and breakfast. She used to work as a professor at a college but during the Great Depression, teachers did not get paid a cent. This was even harder for her because the Hardy family was already desperate for money. After the Great Depression was over, she took up teaching again and then she got paid to maintain her business and keeping a healthy family. All of these people were very hardworkers during the 30's and did almost anything to survive during these tough times. They did almost anything to help their families which even brought their families closer.
